Routers and Gateways for voice

dc2 ups2They are responsible for providing different types of connection between the IP telephony network and the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network), APBX, analogue or other TDM systems, acting as their translator.

Voice routers and gateways allow terminals, for example, the H.323 terminals to communicate with other types of terminals, by converting the protocol. With them, it is also possible to incorporate analog devices such as phones and faxes into the IP world, providing savings in call operating costs.

There are two categories of gateways: those that allow connection to the analog world and those that allow connection to the digital world. Both models can provide IP telephony survival.

This line of products can be found in the platforms of ISR Integrated Service Routers, both generation 1 and 2, in analog VG gateways platform in their different versions, AS5000 universal gateways, 800 series routers, integrated access devices (IAD), among others.

IP Telephony

dc2 ups2One of its components are user terminals that carry the IP telephony application for end users, whether a landline terminal or a PC using a software-based phone.

Currently, there is a wide range of devices such as video phones, conferencing stations, and wireless handsets and for receptionists in different versions: Management, Executive and basic use.

IP phones reduce costs by having an internal switch that allows connection to the user's PC; besides, they can run XML applications customized to the needs of each customer, reduce energy consumption by PoE (Power over Ethernet) allow voice messages to be displayed by the LCD of the terminals, save costs for moving, adding or changing users within the IP network and allows IP connection from a user’s IP terminal anywhere on the network, keeping the same number in the telephone directory.

This product line features different series: 3900, 9900, 8900, 7900 and 69990, and has features to suit varied business needs.

IP telephony servers are hardware in which unified communications applications function, in their appliance versions or virtualized and which can be mounted on racks.

They are made by Cisco or other brands endorsed by this corporation, and may have hard drive, power supply, processor and redundant fan, to provide high reliability and performance in the hardware.

The appliance model can be installed, deployed and managed without having to know how to manage the operating system, while the virtualized model is based on the VMware Hypervisor and allows the coexistence of multiple applications on a single server, maintaining the independence and operation of each application.

Unified Communications Applications

UC applications are based on IP telephony, but do not depend on it. They are integrated into the infrastructure through the IP network, allowing them to reside anywhere in it. These applications offer voice messaging capabilities integrated with electronic messaging, contact centers of different sizes, collaboration applications and web presence, including other third-party systems, which can be integrated into the Cisco Unified Communications Systems using different protocols.
